Michaela Růžičková comes from Brno, Czech Republic. She has been working for 23 years as an archivist, now in the Archive of the Moravian Gallery in Brno. She is a PhD. student in history at the Faculty od Arts of Masaryk University in Brno where she examines the impact of industrialization on the life of the inhabitants of two districts in Brno between 1784 and 1867 using historical demography. She also touches on the issue of population migration for work and women working in factories. Brno was known as the Moravian Manchester in the 19th century.
