Lea Feibusch studied Holocaust Communication and Tolerance at Touro College Berlin (M.A.) and Cultural Anthropology at University Tübingen (B.A.). Her PhD is funded by the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk. She is part of the Research Center and a member of the Vienna Doctoral School of Historical and Cultural Studies since 2022.

"Transforming Memories: processes of negotiation within Jewish Communities in Berlin"

The end of the Soviet Union marked the beginning of Jewish migrations to Germany, and by that, the resurrection of Jewish communities. Until today, more than 200.000 jews, from the former Soviet Union but also from Israel or the United States, moved to Germany. These migration processes have fundamental impacts on the shape of collective Jewish memories and its functions. Memory content is transformed. New memories are included, others tend to lose their importance. The current research “Transforming Memories: Jewish Migration and Jewish-German remembrance” focuses on these transformations and their consequences.
