Discourses on Women and Women’s Rights Through the Lens of State Women’s Organisations in Slovenia, 1970s-1990s
This project aims to investigate the discourses on women and women’s rights through the lens of official women’s organisations and institutions active in Slovenia in the decades between the 1970s and 1990s. It proposes to view the members of these organisations as active producers of ideas and concepts about women and their role in society. It places institutions, their members, and their relations at the centre of its focus as sites of social and semantic struggles, and poses the question of how the language and knowledge (re)produces in women’s organisations shaped the discourses on women and women’s rights in Slovenia in the observed period.
